NOSE LIFT

What is Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?

Also known as injection rhinoplasty or a “15-minute nose job,” this non-surgical procedure is a low-risk, low-cost operation. There is less pain and less downtime.

For those who can’t afford the expense or disruption of surgery, or for those who truly fear going under the knife, it can be quite comforting to hear that such an option exists.

While non-surgical rhinoplasty cannot reduce the size of a large nose, creating symmetry or correcting contour irregularities can actually make the nose appear smaller on the face.

Non-surgical rhinoplasty may be beneficial for:

Reducing the appearance of a lump by filling the surrounding tissue
Reduce or eliminate bad depressions, dents or grooves
Developing symmetry
Creating a lifting effect on the droopy nose tip
Raising the flat bridge or highlighting a rounded tip
Correcting the “bucket” or “saddle nose” profile

How is Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Performed?

Small amounts of an injectable dermal filler (such as Radiesse, Artefill, Juvederm or Silicone) are injected into areas that need filling to achieve a smoother, more symmetrical appearance. The filler is injected in minuscule quantities using what is called the microdroplet technique.

This procedure is not exactly a quick one, as the result is only achieved after several treatments, lasting at least 4-6 weeks between sessions. This stepwise approach is necessary because of the way fillers work.

After the injection, your body’s defenses begin to “push away” each microdroplet of filler material, forming a tissue capsule that holds it in place. Over a period of time, the natural tissue created around the filler creates more volume in the area, so the result cannot be accurately evaluated at the end of each injection session.

Only after the prescribed time is it possible for the doctor and patient to judge whether more injections are needed and how much is needed. This allows the doctor and patient to decide when enough is enough.

Is Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Safe?

It is applied with only local anesthesia instead of general anesthesia. This and because it is not a true cut, this method carries less risk than a surgical rhinoplasty procedure. However, there are some risks, including:

Hypersensitivity reactions
Infection
Lumpy, asymmetrical or otherwise unsatisfactory aesthetic results
nasal skin damage

There are also risks specifically associated with silicone injections, such as migration (relocation of silicone to another part of the face or body) and granuloma formation.

However, these problems have historically been mostly associated with the injection of larger amounts of silicone by unskilled injectors.

The microdroplet method significantly reduces the risk of this complication. Also, since the nose is an almost static (limited movement) area of the face, the likelihood of silicone migration is much less.

What Is Not Achieved With Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?

If you want a smaller nose, a thinner bridge, a large ridge, or a narrower tip, this procedure will not achieve your goals. Non-surgical rhinoplasty cannot improve breathing problems or correct internal defects such as a deviated septum.

Also (or any other procedure) cannot give you a “perfect”, completely symmetrical nose. As always, the goal of plastic surgery is improvement, not perfection.
